The Adra A. Wilson Servant-Leader Scholarship was established in December 2020 during the Memorial Services for Deaconess Adra Jamee Anderson Wilson. Adra was married to Deacon Eric Wilson and the mother of four children, Bryce, Rayah, Raven and Reece. Adra was a member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess alongside her husband, Deacon Eric D. Wilson. Adra believed in the bible scripture, Proverbs 22:6, which instructs us to “train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it,” and encouraged her children to love and be active in the church. As a member of the Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship Commission Adra was instrumental in assisting the organization in receiving its 501©3 status.
Most of Adra’s career involved work in the area of Human Resources. She was skilled in communication, adept in Deaf Sign Language and had a strong desire to help others find their life’s work. To that end this Scholarship has been established to help young people achieve a degree of higher education.
The ideal candidate would be a student involved in community service, active in their High school, their church, and can demonstrate significant community service hours. The recipient should be passionate about serving others.
